The photocell and its applications. Problem
How does the photocell in the operation of a photoelectric counter? Justification of the study
understand the functioning of a photocell and its application in a photoelectric counter people and things.
Research Objectives
General Objective: Develop a photoelectric counter. Specific Objectives
:
- Getting information to the development of a photoelectric counter.
- Collection of materials. Theoretical Framework
theoretical background and
The photocell, in its simplest form, consists of an anode and a cathode coated with a photosensitive material. The light striking the cathode releases electrons which are attracted to the anode, positively charged, creating a current flow proportional to the intensity of radiation. The photocell may be empty or filled with an inert gas at low pressure for greater sensitivity. The photocells are used in burglar alarms, traffic lights and automatic doors.
A photocell and light beam form an essential part of this type of circuit. The light produced by a bulb at one end of the circuit falls on the cell, located at a distance. The track jumps to cut the light beam, causing the closure of a relay and activates the anti-theft or other circuits.
Definition of basic terms
Anode Cathode
positive electrode, negative electrode electrode
: End of a conductor in contact with a medium, who she or it receives an electrical current. Photosensitive
: Sensitive to light
Relay: A device designed to produce a change in a given circuit, when certain conditions on the same circuit or in another country.
research assumptions
- The electrons released are attracted by the positive charge (anode).
- Light incident on a photosensitive material coated cathode releases electrons. Hypothesis
study unit: The photocells
In its simplest form, consists of an anode and a cathode coated with a photosensitive material. The light striking the cathode releases electrons which are attracted to the anode, positively charged, creating a current flow proportional to the intensity of radiation. Variables
independent variables: Light, cathode, anode, electrons.
Dependent variables: current flow.
Nexus or logical connection : Release of electrons. Methodological Issues
Study Type: Applied Research Design Research
: Experimental design. It develops a counter of people and objects using a photocell and other materials. An object is passed by where the light falls and finds that the circuit is activated, then the object is removed and the circuit is open.
